Our Story

In a world of increasing speed- and outsourcing of cheap production to countries with softer regulations, french-swedish couple Clara and Markus found themselves struggling to find locally produced high-quality furniture at affordable prices.

Moving to Cape Town, the couple had a surprisingly hard time finding beautiful tables for their new house. What they found was either imported & expensive or local but without much attention to detail.

Determined to find what they were looking for, the couple went off the beaten track, subsequently leading them to some of the finest table producers in Cape Town. It quickly became evident that they themselves would design a collection of tables for their house.

At the same time, they learned that the majority of south african furniture companies were outsourcing their products from countries with softer regulations, causing unnecessary environmental harm as well as taking away job opportunities for south africans.

To combat the problems the couple had experienced, BOMO interiors was born to offer authentic custom-made furniture whilst supporting the community through local, sustainable material sourcing- & production in the Western Cape region.

The goal is to help create as many job opportunities for South Africans as possible while minimizing the carbon footprint. A digital-first business model is what allows the company to cut out middle-men and offer premium, hand-made furniture at affordable prices.
